The wonders of the universe continue to unveil themselves each time I point my scope towards the stars. It still blows my mind that, even in relatively light polluted skies, such things are still observable (with the right gear of course)! And it still blows my mind just how insignificant we are amongst the grandeur of the cosmos!
Two different nights and two incredible displays of the Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis). The first, a trip to Throckingham to the beautiful and ancient St Aidan's Church, and the second a jaunt to the supremely atmospheric Tithe Barn at Swinburn(e). The greatest Aurora displays I've seen and captured in person and I have a feeling our Sun is just getting warmed up (sorry.. it had to be done...;)
In April I received request from my good friend Pete Shoulder to grab some stills and a bit of video footage for the amazing band One More Satellite, a collaboration between Pete and Dean DeLeo, the incredible lead guitarist of Stone Temple Pilots and Trip The Witch fame. This resulted in a mad dash to try and find some suitable equipment. Huge props to Alan at Infinity Photographic Studios for the equipment loan!
In my landscape photography, trees feature in a lot of my images. There's something about a lone tree, or a tangled copse that tells a story. To think that most mature trees are significantly older than us almost gives them a wisdom - one which they'll never share of course - but certainly one which gives them a character and a presence. In the not too distant future I shall be experimenting with a bit of astrophotography so watch this space, and for now, enjoy these trees! :)
